Power couples in Paris

Two of the biggest stories at this year’s Roland Garros, appropriately in the city of love, are two new(ish) tennis power couples. After splitting just 3 weeks ago, Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas, dubbed Tsitsidosa, announced that they are back together, and have even entered the mix doubles draw.

Paula Badosa + Stefanos Tsitsipas = Tsitsidosa

Feeling like it was impossible for him to focus on both his career and their relationship, Tsitsipas initially broke things off. Now three weeks later, Tsitsipas said, "I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible. So yes, we've reconnected and we're in a good moment.” Let’s hope that they play well together in mixed, otherwise Stefanos might be sleeping on a couch in the 10th arrondissement.

Anna Kalinskaya + Jannik Sinner = Kalinskinner?

In the case of Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya (should we call them Kalinskinner?), we can thank the internet for invading their privacy fast-tracking this news. Let me explain. Earlier this month, Jannik was taking a photo with a fan. Our nosy, detailed friends at the internet zoomed in on Sinner’s phone and noticed that he was on a phone call with “Anna”. Fast forward to this week, Sinner was spotted rooting Kalinskaya on in her first round match at Roland Garros, and announced at a press conference that they are indeed together, but that they aim to be very private.

Unfortunately for these tennis power couples, Paris is a food desert, so they’ll probably have to wait until the US Open to find a cute place to have date night…

Roland Garros Pt. Deux

C’mon dad

Rafa Jr. at his dad’s first round match at Roland Garros

Rafa Jr. wasn’t the only one nervous for his dad’s highly anticipated first round match at Roland Garros yesterday. Carlos Alcaraz was stressed out watching his idol from the stands. World No. 1s Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek were also in attendance to watch what was likely Rafa’s last match at the tournament he has owned since 2005.

In a tough luck of the draw, Nadal fell to Alexander Zverev in straight sets, but received a huge standing ovation as he walked off the court. In a press conference, he didn’t completely shut the door on playing in Paris again, and says he’s focused on playing at the Olympics this year. One thing is certain, when Nadal does hang up his rackets, there won’t be a dry eye in the house. Reminded of Roger Federer’s emotional send off, these fans don’t want Nadal to stop.

Roland Garros Pt. Trois

Breakfast of champions

Looks like Stefanos treats himself to cheat day every once in a while. Parisians call it Monday.
